Right un­der the High Line, The Stan­dard Bier­garten cap­tures the bois­ter­ous spir­it of a clas­sic Ger­man hall, but out in the open air. The en­er­gy is in­fec­tious, with long com­mu­nal ta­bles filled with peo­ple en­joy­ing mas­sive pret­zels and siz­zling bratwurst. Their beer list is sol­id, but the real draw for a group is snag­ging a Stammtisch ta­ble with its own built-in taps. There’s some­thing spe­cial about pour­ing your own crisp, cold pil­sner while soak­ing up the live­ly Meat­pack­ing Dis­trict at­mos­phere.
