We hap­pened upon The Em­press in South Kens­ing­ton and were ut­ter­ly charmed. The Vic­to­ri­an build­ing ex­udes el­e­gance with­out be­ing stuffy. Im­me­di­ate­ly, the friend­ly staff and gor­geous decor caught our eye – imag­ine lush tex­tiles and shim­mer­ing chan­de­liers. Their fo­cus is on con­tem­po­rary Eu­ro­pean cui­sine, and al­though we only stopped in for cock­tails, the food be­ing served looked ab­solute­ly de­li­cious. With its so­phis­ti­cat­ed at­mos­phere and con­ve­nient lo­ca­tion, The Em­press is per­fect for a spe­cial oc­ca­sion or sim­ply a bit of lux­u­ri­ous respite.
