A metal­lic mar­vel, the Star Atri­um shoots up through the grand atri­um of the Burj Al Arab Jumeirah. A 24-karat gold 'd­how', draped in white or­gan­za and sparkling with 35 Swarovs­ki crys­tal chan­de­liers, forms the cen­ter­piece of the atri­um. The six-mast­ed wood­en dhow, a tra­di­tionelle Arab sail­ing ves­sel, is sus­pend­ed from the ceil­ing by a light­ing arrange­ment that re­sem­bles a star. The atri­um is filled with nat­ur­al light and of­fers views of the Ara­bi­an Gulf and the city sky­line. Vis­i­tors can en­joy af­ter­noon tea or din­ner in the so­phis­ti­cat­ed am­biance of the atri­um, and take in the stun­ning views of the sur­round­ing area.
