Man Mo Temple

About

Man Mo Temple on Hong Kong Island provides a peaceful retreat from the city's lively streets. Dating back to 1847, this important Taoist temple honors the deities Man Cheong (King Man), the god of literature, and Mo Tai (King Mo), the god of war. Upon entering the temple's peaceful courtyard, the aroma of incense and the soft sound of wind chimes greet you. Marvel at the elaborate carvings decorating the temple's exterior, showcasing scenes

from Chinese mythology and history. Within, discover a collection of colorful figures, including the revered Man Cheong and Mo Tai. Worshippers visit to seek blessings for academic achievements, career advancements, and fulfilling relationships. They ignite incense sticks, present offerings, and fasten red strings to the temple's "wish tree," hoping for their aspirations to be fulfilled. A trip to Man Mo Temple offers both a spiritual journey and a peek into Hong Kong's fascinating cultural legacy.
