Verdi's clas­sic opera, *La Travi­a­ta*, un­fold­ed be­fore us at the San Fran­cis­co Opera in a tru­ly cap­ti­vat­ing per­for­mance. The lav­ish sets and cos­tumes whisked us away to 19th-cen­tu­ry Paris, draw­ing us into Vi­o­let­ta's trag­ic love sto­ry. So­pra­no Ai­lyn Pérez daz­zled as Vi­o­let­ta, her voice ring­ing out with raw emo­tion. The or­ches­tra's per­for­mance was im­pec­ca­ble, bathing the War Memo­r­i­al Opera House in lush, melod­ic pas­sages. Ex­pert stage di­rec­tion pro­vid­ed a vi­su­al­ly breath­tak­ing back­drop for this time­less nar­ra­tive. All in all, it was an evening of pure op­er­at­ic en­chant­ment that left us com­plete­ly spell­bound.
