The Ele­phant Ar­cade has long been a land­mark in South­wark's Ele­phant & Cas­tle, a fa­mil­iar sight for lo­cals. For years, it buzzed with the en­er­gy of in­de­pen­dent busi­ness­es: hair sa­lons, cafes, and bars serv­ing the needs of the com­mu­ni­ty. Sad­ly, the ar­cade it­self has re­cent­ly closed its doors, leav­ing its fu­ture un­cer­tain. De­spite this set­back, the spir­it of these lo­cal en­ter­pris­es re­mains strong, a tes­ta­ment to the area's en­dur­ing sense of com­mu­ni­ty.
