Wan­der­ing through Paris's 17th, we stum­bled upon The Break, and it was such a wel­come gear shift. This spot has a dis­tinct­ly Cal­i­forn­ian feel; the vibe is im­me­di­ate­ly more re­laxed and sun­nier than the city's usu­al hum, mak­ing it a gen­uine ur­ban re­treat. Their menu re­al­ly de­liv­ers on that West Coast promise with dish­es that are fresh, vi­brant, and gen­uine­ly tasty –

think bright sal­ads and sat­is­fy­ing mains. For us, the real treat was find­ing their se­clud­ed ter­race – a beau­ti­ful, qui­et haven per­fect for a long, leisure­ly lunch or a mel­low evening din­ner. It's a place where you can ac­tu­al­ly take a breath and en­joy a dif­fer­ent rhythm. We left feel­ing like we’d dis­cov­ered a cool lit­tle se­cret for a prop­er es­cape with­in Paris.
